Letter from former Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir to Rabbi Joseph Gerlitzky, Chairman of the
Rabbinical Congress for Peace, March 6, 1996.
To Rabbi Joseph Gerlitzky
My dear friend who is devoted heart and soul to Eretz Israel
My dear friend,
I thankfully acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29 th of Shevat this year. I thank you
from the depth of my heart for your sincere blessings.
I am not interested in indictments against rabbis as circulated by the Left. Who like you knows
that I wholeheartedly agree with the words of those that admire Israel that “it is dangerous to
relinquish territories from Eretz Israel to our enemies.” I hope that these words will find their
way into the hearts of all citizens of Israel. There is no connection between these words of truth
and the slanderous words of those who incite to the murder of Jews.
Cordially,
Yitzchak Shamir
