To the Rabbis of the “Rabbinical Congress for Peace”

Dear Sirs,
I would like to thank you for your letter, which I was delighted to receive.
I don’t have even the shadow of a doubt that empty statements about “negotiations” and the
peace process, which have no other significance than expressing Israel’s willingness to make
one-sided concessions, are totally useless and futile.
It is clear from a strategic perspective that even the mere declaration of such intentions can
weaken our position before the agents of terror and radical Islam, which, to our misfortune,
show no signs of willingness to acknowledge our existence as a sovereign nation in its own
country and land, not to mention any thought of peaceful coexistence.
I sincerely hope and believe that the national government, led by the current Prime Minister,
will remain true and firm to its national principles and our security needs.
It would be good to always recall the words of Shimon the Hashmonite: “We did not conquer a
foreign land . . . but rather, the land of our forefathers that was in the hands of our enemies,
that was, at one point in time, wrongfully conquered; and which, when it came our time, was
restored the land of our forefathers.”
Thank you for your concern regarding this important topic, and may you have a joyful and light-
filled Hanukah.
With blessings,
Yuli (Yoel) Edelstein
